I do not have a fixed presentation. I create individual presentations specific to your goals and audience. The presentation is drawn from my repertoire of over 500 anecdotes, as relevant to your theme, to emphasize your goals, or to simply entertain your audience based on their background and interests. The length of the presentation can be varied according to your schedule, but generally 30 - 90 minutes works best, and can include a question and answer period related to the topic. If there is significant interest in all or portions of my book, "Time and Effort," I can discuss the background and/or writing process in some detail. Availability of time and space to sign and sell copies of the book after the presentation is a plus.
Content Themes: Disability affirmation; Disability experience; motivational for teachers, parents and helping professionals; stigma; advocacy. Target Audience: Can be modified as a one-person show or a keynote. Perfect for non-profit organization fundraisers, conferences and college shows. Description: "How many people with Disabilities does it take to screw in a lightbulb?" Answer: "One to screw it in and 5 abled bodied people to say, 'you are such an inspiration!'" This joke is a favorite in Nina G's stand-up comedy routine. It brings to light (no pun intended) the struggle that people with Disabilities have living in an able-bodied society that reduces them to images of "inspirations" and "overcomers.†Nina challenges perceptions about Disability in her appropriately titled show, Going Beyond Inspirational. Going Beyond Inspirational deals with the pain, joys, and revelations growing up with Speech and Learning Disabilities.

How would you illustrate my disability? Can you see it? Smell it? Hear it? See it? Feel it? Hidden disabilities are just that as far as the public is concerned. I focus on my strengths, my abilities, but have recently decided to go public with my invisible disabilities in an effort to help the millions of others with similar situations. To inspire audiences to look beyond appearance to see reality. I am an articulate and attractive speaker, quick on my feet, candid and able to inform and entertain any audience. But I have worked hard to compensate for my hidden disabilities--seizures related to multiple traumatic brain injuries, surgery to remove a brain tumor and PTSD. I travel with a 3 lb service dog who is often confused with a wind up toy. He accompanies me everywhere just as my disability does. I can modify this talk to the specific needs of the hospitality industry, sales people, educators and anyone who meets the public through their work or daily life. There is a ne...

What tools do we already possess that when used creatively in tandem with others' strengths can make us more effective? This question is part of the conundrum every employer, team leader, teacher and manager faces whenever two or more people are involved in getting something done. The fact is that we all have inner tools available to us which we have not learned to use to their full potential and which, if employed in our lives, would make us more productive and invaluable to others, and which will help us be more self-reliant and more confident in our own abilities. Michael Hingson has had to use and grow his personal inner toolbox to adapt to, survive, and succeed in a world in which he is often considered an outsider and an individual incapable of being considered a "normal human being". Mr. Hingson happens to be blind. From an early age Mike was taught by his parents to think on his feet and deal with the unexpected. He has seen firsthand how people can, when necessary, cal...
