The concept of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or DEI has increased in focus for several years. Corporations have focus on DEI training for their employees and management. However where there are concerns are the impacts of DEI on leadership and overall corporate productivity. I would argue that if DEI awareness and training becomes performative, and just a check mark in a box as part of a to-do list for a company to fulfill then the training and strategies fall flat and the company does not appear progressive which may ultimately impact productivity.
This program will explore why DEI initiatives have to be introspective and leaders must look at themselves in the mirror and be accountable. Second, leaders/management must adequately be trained in DEI strategies and initiatives because effective leadership plays a crucial role in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Third, promoting DEI is an ongoing effort and emerging trends in DEI and leadership, such as remote work's impact on inclusion.
