Virginia Commonwealth University’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs recognized Robert David Sr. with the 2025 Innovation in Government Award as part of its Excellence in Virginia Government Awards.
The recognition highlighted Robert’s development of Project Imagine within the City of Danville, Virginia. What began as a response to youth violence evolved into a coordinated municipal model connecting personal development, workforce pathways, trusted relationships, education, community partnerships, and long-term support.
For Robert, the significance of the model extends beyond any single program or population. Project Imagine became a real-world laboratory for understanding how leadership, structure, opportunity, accountability, and human development interact. Those lessons now shape his presentations on organizational performance, human capacity, municipal innovation, workforce development, and systems transformation.
