When The Beatles quit the road in 1966, they were by no means assured that they could sustain their career: no one in the world of rock 'n' roll survived without live shows (except perhaps Elvis, who instead was on a treadmill of making bad movies instead). But with the 1967 release of first the "Strawberry Fields Forever"/"Penny Lane" single, and then the Sgt. Pepper album, the world was put on notice that this teenage fan was capable of producing enduring art. This program traces how the group continued to evolve, how George's talents flowered, and how they could still produce enduring music despite issues closing in on them that led to their 1970 break-up.
