Emotions. We all have them.
Yes, even the person who proudly announces, “I’m not emotional. I’m logical.”
Emotions show up in meetings, emails, performance reviews, difficult conversations, and the occasional urge to throw your laptop out the window. Most of us have been told to control our emotions. Very few of us were ever shown how.
More Than a Feeling is a high-energy, fully interactive experience that helps people understand what their emotions are doing, why they keep doing it, and how to make more intentional choices about what happens next.
If you are looking for a presentation where participants sit quietly, stare at slides, and politely nod for an hour, this is not it.
From the opening activity to the final takeaway, participants are involved. They move, talk, experiment, reflect, laugh, work with partners, and occasionally have an uncomfortable little moment of, “Oh crap...I do that.”
Together, we explore how to:
• Name what is happening before an emotion hijacks the conversation
• Recognize the triggers and patterns that put us on autopilot
• Understand what our emotional dashboard is trying to tell us
• Shift our emotional state when the current one is not helping
• Respond on purpose instead of reacting out of habit
• Recognize what may be happening with other people without pretending we can read their minds
This is not group therapy. No one will be forced to reveal their deepest secrets or hug a coworker. Through games, partner activities, honest conversation, humor, and practical tools, participants learn how to work with emotions instead of ignoring them, fighting them, or letting them run the whole damn show.
Participants leave with a better understanding of themselves, greater awareness of the people around them, and tools they can use when emotions show up at work on Monday morning. Because emotional intelligence is more than having a feeling. It is knowing what the hell to do with it.
More Than a Feeling can be delivered as a one-hour presentation, a half-day experience, or a full-day experience.
