We say we admire doing your best in this country and yet in so many ways what we promote and support is mediocrity. We want people to do their best at being mediocre. We do not encourage creative out of the box thinking. We do not invite people to challenge the status quo or keep us on our toes and help us make this society greater society than it has ever been before. We are discouraged to put out our uniqueness, often our creativity and certainly our different ways of thinking and doing things—out into the world.
