Pelvic floor disorders affect millions of patients across the lifespan, yet remain underrecognized in many healthcare settings. Symptoms such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, sexual dysfunction, and chronic pelvic pain often cross disciplinary boundaries—impacting urology, gynecology, gastroenterology, oncology, primary care, neurology, and rehabilitation medicine.
This program explores the pelvic floor as a critical but often overlooked system, highlighting the prevalence, risk factors and evidence-based, conservative treatment strategies. Through case-based discussion, we will examine when and how to refer to a pelvic floor therapy specialist, and the role of pelvic floor physical therapy as part of comprehensive, team-based care. Suitable for physicians and advanced practice providers, participants will gain an enhanced understanding of how multidisciplinary collaboration can improve outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and significantly impact quality of life for patients.
