Let's face it, everyone is afraid of something even though many wont admit it. For me it was heights and sharks. I also have a bucket list where I am blessed to be able to travel and experience God's creation then pass on my knowledge to audiences everywhere.
I have learned to face my fears head on as I get older. God gave did not give me a spirit of fear but he didn’t want me to just be stupid either. It is his creation, not mine. I take risks but I don’t take any chances😊 I decided to do a deep dive realizing perception is everything. First of all, sharks are apex predators. That being said I realized they are also not the monsters portrayed on the media. I know there would be risk involved in this as is anything. I realize this is not for everyone but knowledge is power and life experiences add to that knowledge.
So after my deep dive (lol), I decided to book a trip to Hawaii and signed up for a shark cage free dive with Ocean Ramsey’s company One Ocean Diving. I began to practice deep diving techniques with breath holding. Holding your breath is not dangerous unless you are in a place where passing out is dangerous, ie; water. I did and and lived!
It is over now and I am processing all of this. My perception of sharks has changed and the challenge was met. This of course is not for everyone but everyone has something they can do to make life more interesting. Applying this works for any profession. Everyone needs a break from all the chaos. Even if you love your job, time away can be refreshing. Face your fears now and see there the anxiousness sometimes is the worse part of actually doing something about it.
